My elbow is slowly getting better. I have nearly full range of motion back, but it's still painful and stiff. The doctor advises that I should have full range of motion WITHOUT pain (imagine that!). So, I have to remain on light duty for another couple of weeks. And now we are monitoring a deformation on my knee from the same fence landing. Something about calcification at the sight of an injury...blah, blah. All I know is that I have a lump below my knee cap that is still very painful more than 6 weeks later.
On a happier note, I applied for and received a new position at work!
I am now the Domestic Violence Investigator. Job description? Not entirely sure yet. I will basically be like a detective for misdemeanor domestic-related crimes that would not otherwise get the attention they need (real detectives do not take misdemeanor crimes). Other than that, I get to kind of write my own job description as I go. I have worked for years to get my department to start this position, but it is so brand new that no one knows what it should entail. Investigations, going to trainings, putting on trainings for my department and other agencies, whatever I want. I am so excited to get started!
The job is mine for the next 3 years...as soon as my elbow regains full motion without pain.
(I will do a birthday post for Liam's 2nd b-day...someday. Be warned, though, that I decided to just be at the party, in the moment. I took pictures of the decorations and of Liam playing with toys afterward, but no photographs actually during the party. Sorry.)
Congratulations, Katie! I know how hard you've pushed and worked for this very necessary and important change in the Billings PD. You deserve the job!
